It Started with a Charrette: The Story of Bristol Reborn

Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 3:45-6:00 PM

Start at the Bristol Town Offices

An economic downturn, empty storefronts, and a downtown in disrepair...

Like many communities, this is where the Town of Bristol found itself in the mid-2000s. Despite the challenges however, local leadership decided to lean in and invest more in their downtown rather than less.

They started their revitalization journey by completing their first community design charrette in 2008 with Plan NH. Motivated by the success of the process and resulting recommendations, Bristol partnered with Plan NH again in 2018 for a second charrette.

Want to know more about the Plan NH Charrette Program?

Register now to join us, Wednesday, July 27, as we learn more about the charrette processes that Bristol underwent in 2008 and 2018. Former Town Administrator, Nik Coates, will lead us on a walking tour of the many projects that have been implemented based on recommendations from both of these processes.

Our walking tour will end at Shackett's Brewing Company where we will hear from Jon Shackett about the role his business has played in Bristol's rebirth. All registrants will then be invited to enjoy a complimentary beverage and networking time with colleagues from across New Hampshire.

Plan NH Executive Director, Tiffany Tononi McNamara, will be present to answer questions about the Plan NH Charrette Program.

Registration is limited, $25 for Plan NH members and $35 for non-members. Attendees will receive one drink ticket and are eligible for CMs through the Northern New England Chapter of the APA. CEUs through AIA New Hampshire pending approval.
